Man tells police ex-wife tried to run him over with minivan
The Gaffney Police Department is investigating an Aug. 5 incident during which a man claimed his ex-wife tried to run him over with a minivan.
According to a police report, a 28-year-old man claimed his ex-wife attempted to hit him on College Drive and Union Street between 8:30 and 9:30 p.m. Aug. 5. No charges were reported by police.
The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office is investigating a possible case of child neglect after receiving a report from social workers that a 4-month old infant tested positive for methamphetamine.
According to a police report filed by Det. Tracy Fowler, the Cherokee County Department of Social Services complained to police that a local mother had exposed her infant to methamphetamine between May 19 and June 19 and that the baby tested positive for the drug on June 16. The mother had not been charged, according to the police report.
A $5,000 all-terrain-vehicle was stolen from a South Charleston Street, Blacksburg, home during the weekend.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, the 2004 Honda 450-R four-wheeler was taken from the 600 block between 11 p.m. Aug. 9 and 8 a.m. Aug. 10.
A 26-year-old Blacksburg Highway man was charged with threatening a public official on Aug. 26.
Christopher Lee Gordon was charged with the offense following an Aug. 6 incident during which he allegedly threatened a social worker with the Department of Social Services. He remained lodged at the Cherokee County Detention Center on Sunday evening. His bond was set at $1,092, according to detention center records.
A Battleground Road home sustained $200 in door frame damage during a recent break-in, according to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office.
Someone forced open the back door to the home in the 3000 block between 5 p.m. Aug. 8 and midnight Aug. 9. Nothing appeared missing from the home's interior, police were told.
A Chesnee woman reported the theft of about $3,500 in possessions from a rental home on Highway 11.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, the woman had been renting the home to a man who passed away last February. Since then, various musical equipment and instruments, including drums and stands, in addition to a collection of unworn concert Tshirts and baseball cards, have gone missing.
The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office reported the vandalism of a campaign sign belonging to a school board candidate.
Joe Craig, of Cherokee Avenue, who is running for a seat on the Cherokee County School District board of trustees, told police someone stole several letters from a campaign sign between 10 and 11 p.m. on Aug. 6. The sign was worth $50.
Three guns and a VCR were reported stolen from a Bratton Drive camper following a break-in that was discovered Aug. 9.
The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office reported the 1975 Airstream camper was burglarized between July 16 and Aug. 9. The thief or thieves stole a .410-gauge shotgun, a 12-gauge shotgun and a 30/30 Revalation rifle. Theft losses were estimated at $750.
A copper thief caused flooding underneath a Leadmine Street home last week after he or she cut the copper water lines.
According to the Gaffney Police Department, the theft of the copper pipes and the damage occurred between 5 p.m. Aug. 5 and noon Aug. 6. There was no estimate on damage at the currently vacant rental property.
