Larry Ellis
MOORESBORO, N.C . - Larry Layne Ellis, 67, of 115 Grandon Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Aug. 7, 2008, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.
Born in Shelby, N.C., he was the husband of Shirley White Ellis and son of the late General Weaver (G.W.) Ellis and Kate Mintz Ellis. He was retired from Nestlé and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons, Jerry Layne Ellis of Woodruff, Steve Ellis and wife, Debbie, also of Woodruff, and Jack Ellis and wife, Nichole, of Lexington, S.C.; a daughter, Becky Strain and husband, Fulton, of Gaffney; 11 grandchildren, Chris Ellis and wife, Erica, Mandy Ellis, Michelle Ellis, Ben Ellis, Steven Ellis, Jacob Ellis, Sarah Ellis, Robbie Strain and wife, Tabatha, Wendy Bridges and husband, Shannon, Elizabeth Strain and Spencer Strain; three great-grandchildren, Makaila Patterson, Alexis Strain and Russell Strain; and a sister, Nell Jones and husband, Wayne, of Belmont, N.C.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Ellis was preceded in death by four brothers, G. W. Ellis Jr., Max Ellis, Walter Ellis and John Reid Ellis.
Services were held Sunday, Aug. 10, at 2 p.m. at Lavonia Baptist Church with the Rev. Jamie Martin officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. Visitation was held Saturday, Aug. 9, from 6-8 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home.
