LANCASTER - Marguerite McSwain Johnson, 94, died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008, at White Oak Manor.

Daughter of the late George Pinkney McSwain and Ida Ann Mullinax McSwain, Mrs. Johnson was born March 25, 1914, in Cherokee County and was the widow of the Rev. Howard Thomas Johnson. She was a retired minister's wife and a member of First Baptist Church of Blacksburg.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by a son, the Rev. Cecil Johnson of Lancaster; two grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and two sisters, Lucille Randall of Grover, N.C., and Verona Hardin of Blacksburg.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by a sister, Alma Carroll, and a brother, Paul McSwain.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, Aug. 16, at 2 p.m. in Hartley Funeral Home Chapel. A graveside service will follow at 4 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Blacksburg.

The family will receive friends Friday, Aug. 15, from 6-8 p.m. at Hartley Funeral Home, Lancaster, and suggest memorial contributions be made to White Oak Manor Staff Activities, 253 Craig Manor Road, Lancaster, S.C. 29720.
