Gaffney golfer Josh Gallman finished tied for second earlier this week at the South Carolina Amateur Championship at Mugrove Mill Golf Club in Clinton.

The local product finished 4- under par for the tournament, one shot behind the winner, Greenville's Lee Palms.

Gallman led by a shot entering the final round of the tournament, but relinquished the lead early on before rallying from two strokes down to recapture the lead with five holes to go.

But on the championship's final hole, Gallman had a birdie putt just miss its target giving Palms the tournament title.

The Gaffney golfer finished the round with an even-par 72, the third round he shot at or below par during the champiosnhip.

"I put in a good effort today," Gallman said. "I had a couple stupid mistakes that cost me... but I gave it my all."
