Upward Soccer

Upward Soccer for girls and boys ages K-12 will begin practice and games in September at New Hope Baptist Church, Hwy. 198 (Blacksburg Highway) in Earl, N.C. Deadline for registration is Wednesday, Aug. 27, from 4-6 p.m. Every child will play, every child will learn, and every child will be a winner. Cost is $65 (scholarships available). Meetings

The Upstate S.C. American Christian Writers group will meet Saturday, Aug. 23, at 2:30 p.m. at Anderson County Library. The guest speaker, Linda Gilden, has published six books and hundreds of articles, fillers and short plays. The meeting is free and anyone interested in writing is invited to attend. Family reunions

The annual Morris reunion will be held Sunday, Aug. 24, at Mesopotamia Methodist Church social hall with dinner at 1 p.m. Bring a picnic lunch.

Support groups

AA meetings are held at 8 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday in the building behind Limestone Methodist Church on Carlisle Street. If you have a problem with alcohol, you are welcome to attend.

To find locations of Narcotics Anonymous meetings call 1-800-828-568. A group meets at St. Paul's Lutheran Church on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. (lit study) and Saturdays at 6 p.m. (open).

Class reunions

The Gaffney High School Class of 1998 is planning its 10-year reunion. Classmates are asked to send a selfaddressed, stamped envelope to P.O. Box 1057, Gaffney, S.C. 29342.

The Gaffney High School Class of 1978 is planning its 30-year reunion on Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. at the Gaffney Elks Lodge. Cost is $50 per couple or $25 for single, cash bar only.
