Fire, burglars haven't slowed 'Doc Oct' down
Instead of giving up, Smith decided to delve further into his music
      For a while, local talent Octavius "Doc Oct" Smith wondered if dreams really did come true. The aspiring hip-hop artist is hoping the answer to that question is "yes," as after being dealt a few of life's obstacles, the Cherokee County resident continues to work toward his day in the limelight.

Man faces sixth DUS charge
      A 26-year-old Gaffney man was booked into the Cherokee County Detention Center on Aug. 13 for a sixth offense driving under suspension offense, a noise ordinance violation and for allegedly giving false information to police.

Three go to hospital following I-85 wreck
      Three people were transported to local hospitals Sunday morning following a crash that caused a tractor-trailer to strike a bridge support on Interstate 85 near the 95 mile marker. According to Lance Cpl. Jeff Gaskin of the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at 8:39 a.m.

Bond set at 100K for suspect in home invasion
      A 20-year-old Gaffney man accused of participating in an October 2007 home invasion on North Limestone Street had his bond set Friday at $100,000. Joseph Wilson is one of four people accused in the incident.

Judge shows mercy on man accused of being accessory to assault
      A man who admitted he hid a gun involved in a September 2007 shooting was spared further jail time Friday because he was credited, in part, with saving the shooting victim's life. Cleveland Littlejohn, 42, of McCluney Drive, pleaded guilty to being an accessory after the fact to an assault and battery with intent to kill in connection with a Sept.
