Man faces sixth DUS charge A 26-year-old Gaffney man was booked into the Cherokee County Detention Center on Aug. 13 for a sixth offense driving under suspension offense, a noise ordinance violation and for allegedly giving false information to police. Bradley Littlejohn, of Arrowood Drive, was arrested after a Gaffney Police Department officer on patrol near Granard Courts claimed he could hear music coming from a vehicle more than a block away. When he questioned the driver, the officer claimed Littlejohn provided someone else's name and date of birth and that it took a check of detention center records to ascertain Littlejohn's true identity. Police said they subsequently learned Littlejohn had five previous driving under suspension offenses on his record and that his license was suspended until October 2009. A vehicle listed as stolen out of North Carolina was found Aug. 14 abandoned on Chesnee Highway. According to a report at the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, an officer was patrolling Chesnee Highway at about 6 p.m. and noticed a silver Honda on the roadway. The officer had the North Carolina license plate run through dispatch and learned the vehicle was listed as stolen out of Hendersonville. The car was towed from the scene for safekeeping. Deputies responding to a burglar alarm at a Battleground Road home in Cowpens found the front door forced open but no one inside, according to a report at the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office. The break-in occurred in the 3000 block at about 9 a.m. Aug. 14. Deputies cleared the building after discovering the break-in but could not find the thief or thieves who forced their way inside. Police were told it did not appear anything had been taken. A moped stolen from Vestes Road was recovered a short time later after it was found vandalized near an apartment complex. According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, the yellow and black QuinQi 450 moped was taken from the 100 block of Vestes Road between Aug. 13 and Aug. 14. It was valued at $900. At about 9:30 p.m. Aug. 14., the Gaffney Police Department was dispatched to a Hunnington Drive apartment complex regarding a report of a group of juveniles spray-painting the parking lot. Juveniles questioned at the scene denied any involvement in vandalism. While at the scene, the Gaffney Police Department found the yellow and black moped parked near the scene. The moped had been damaged with red spray paint. A stolen moped was recovered last week in a wooded area near an apartment complex on Hunnington Drive. According to the Gaffney Police Department, a black Urban Touring 1500 was found in the woods in damaged condition. Police said it appeared someone had tampered with the wiring and it looked as though the moped had been involved in an accident. The moped had been valued at $1,500. Police said they used paperwork scattered about the scene to determine the owner's name. The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office is investigating the recent break-in of a Piedmont Road home during which more than $4,000 in items were stolen. Police did not describe the stolen items but said $6,495 in household goods were missing from the home in the 1200 block. The burglary occurred between 7 p.m. Aug. 13 and 8:30 a.m. Aug. 14. The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office responded Aug. 14 to an incident during which an 18-year-old woman was injured when a car ran over her foot. According to a police report, the 18-year-old woman had been in an argument with a 42-year-old woman at an Overbrook Drive apartment. The victim claimed she was grabbed and shoved during the altercation and then injured when the car ran over her foot. Police said the woman had a bruise on her foot. About $600 in stereo equipment was reported stolen from a car outside the Wal-Mart Supercenter off West Floyd Baker Boulevard on Aug. 12. According to a report at the Gaffney Police Department, someone broke into the trunk of a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am parked outside the store between 1:30 a.m. and 2 a.m. Stolen were two kicker speakers and a Memphis brand amplifier. Several rims and tires were reported stolen from a Cherokee Falls Road, Blacksburg, home recently. Sometime between Aug. 2 and Aug. 7, according to a report at the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, about eight to 16 rims and tires were taken from a property in the 500 block. The rims and tires were valued at about $400. |
