Frances Turney

Frances Louise Childers Turney, 78, formerly of 419 Brookside Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Aug. 15, 2008, at Peachtree Centre.

Born in Gaffney, she was the widow of Harvey Eugene Turney and daughter of the late George Monroe Childers and Evelyn Stacy Childers. She was retired from Oxford Industries and was a member of Kirby Memorial Baptist Church. Mrs. Turney was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Surviving are two daughters, Vicki Allen and husband, Ed, and Rosemary T. Phillips and special friend, Richard Vickery, all of Gaffney; three grandchildren, Christy Henry and husband, Bill, Chad Humphries, and Julie Daves and husband, Kenneth; and five great-grandchildren, Brad Cashion, Chase Humphries, Corey Daves, Haley Humphries and Hunter Daves.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Turney was preceded in death by two brothers, Leroy Childers and Dean Childers, and a sister, Mildred Dobbins.

Services will be held Tuesday, Aug. 19, at 2 p.m. in Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Joey Turner officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends Monday, Aug. 18, from 6-8 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home.

The family will be at the home of Bill and Christy Henry, 108 Royal Drive (off Cooper Street Extension, behind Limestone Quarry).
