'Come on Down to the Brown' Saturday for a rollicking good time

      Dear Annie: "DPN" asked why men have affairs. When a man drifts, it's all emotion and hormones. We fear getting old. When we come home to wives who are exhausted from work, raising children and doing chores, and who don't have enough energy (understandably) to be attractive to their man, we feel unloved and become susceptible to flirtation.

Library hosts Aug. 21 concert by 'Menage'
      The Cherokee County Public Library will host a concert by the critically acclaimed group "Menage" on Thursday, Aug. 21, from 12:15-1 p.m. Luscious and original, Menage hails from Asheville, N.C., and delivers a contagious mix of soul, swing, pop, country and blues. Currently Hunt's is using the group's song, "Tomatoes," for its national tomato commercial.

      Brayden Kru Rochester Brian Rochester and Ashley Erwin of Gaffney announce the birth of their son, Brayden Kru, on May 6, 2008, in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center weighing 7 lbs. 11 ozs. Maternal grandparents are Richard and Becky Erwin of Gaffney. Paternal grandparents are Janice Rochester of Gaffney and the late Kelly Rochester.

ARC offers client casework class
      The Cherokee County American Red Cross invites interested individuals to participate in a Client Casework Class on Thursday, Aug. 21, from 10 a.m. until noon. The class will enable persons to provide all the vital disaster recovery services the the American Red Cross offers to local disaster victims.

      Church events Pacolet Road Baptist Church will have a youth rally on Saturday, Aug. 23, at 6 p.m. The Rev. Ray Martin will be the speaker. Youths from all churches are welcome to attend. Fund raisers The Cherokee County Junior Woman's Club will have its annual fundraising yard sale on Saturday, Aug. 23, from 7-11 a.m. at Alma Elementary School.
