Former textile employee

Debra Kaye Harvey Carter, 44, of 111 13th St., passed away Sunday, Aug. 17, 2008, at her home.

Born in Cherokee County, Ms. Carter was a daughter of the late Nickus Fay and Margie Peterson Harvey. She was a former textile employee, a member of Faith Baptist Church in Shelby, and a loving mother and friend who cared about her family dearly.

Surviving are her companion, Billy Cogdell, of the home; her sons, David Carter and Mitchell Carter, both of Gaffney; a sister, Janet Rogers of Blacksburg; two brothers, Donnie Harvey and Steve Harvey, both of Gaffney; and three grandchildren.

Services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 20, at 3 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church with the Revs. John Barry Goodman and Bruce Randolph officiating. Burial will follow in Frederick Memorial Gardens.

Visitation was held Tuesday, Aug. 19, from 7-9 p.m. at Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home at Frederick Memorial Gardens.

The family is at the residence.
