An annual tradition has begun as Bethel Senior Day Care Center clients celebrated their first prom with the theme, Blue Hawaii.

"We had so much fun remembering our teenage years," said Alma Dover. "Times like these keep us active and happy."

Family members, clients and staff enjoyed the occasion with everyone dressing in Hawaiian grass skirts, dresses and shirts. Leis were placed around everyone's neck as they entered the beautifully decorated Bethel fellowship hall. Palm trees, a blue ocean with white floating clouds and floating candles were highlighted.

Dr. J.W. Sanders Jr., administrator, reflected by saying, "Our center is very client focused and pro-active in our programming. Our new activities director, Linda Harris, has a wonderful interest and skills for our population."

Mrs. Harris and administrative assistant, Kathy Beattie, worked together in planning the prom.

"They are sisters who worked tirelessly to engage our clients in what their suggestions are and then enabling them in all phases," said Dr. Sanders.

Everyone enjoyed a delicious Hawaiian lunch, complete with speciality drinks and desserts. Games and prizes were awarded with clients and staff dancing the "hula."

Bethel Senior Day Care is located at 218 Dr. L.M. Rosemond Lane and is opened for visits by families Monday through Friday from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. by calling 864-489-7552 for reservations.
