Ruth Patterson Dover, 84, of 104 Madison Ave., went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008, at her residence.

Born in Cherokee County, she was the widow of Johnny L. Dover and daughter of the late Claude (Boss) Patterson and Margaret Bright Patterson. Mrs. Dover was retired from textiles and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are three daughters, Brenda Yarborough and husband, Robert, of Blacksburg, Marie Frady and Shirley Childers and husband, Bobby, all of Gaffney; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Dover was preceded in death by a son, Johnny L. Dover Jr.; four brothers, Elbert Patterson, Otis Patterson, Clarence Patterson and L.D. Patterson; three sisters, Violet Allman, Aileen Lydia and Essie Haynes; and a great-grandson, Adam Peterson Jr.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, Aug. 26, from 1-1:45 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home. Graveside services will immediately follow at 2 p.m. at Frederick Memorial Gardens with the Revs. Grady Gregory and Tim Osment officiating.
