Horses apparently believed the grass was greener on the other side of the fence

Horses hungry for some fresh grass on a neighboring property allegedly caused $2,000 in fence damage.

According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, the fence damage occurred in the 3400 block of Pacolet Highway on Aug. 22. Police listed the incident simply as damage to property.

A jewelry box containing $3,000 in jewelry was stolen during the recent burglary of a Concord Road home.

According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, someone forced entry to the home in the 1600 block between 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 22. An oak jewelry box was the only thing reported missing.

The motor from a Buick automobile was stolen recently from an Osment Street yard.

According to a report at Gaffney Police Department, the motor was taken from the 100 block between Aug. 18 and Aug. 20. The motor came from a 1996 Buick Riviera and is valued at $2,500.

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office said someone tried to break into a Hopewell Road, Blacksburg, home Aug. 23.

According to police, no entry was made to the home in the 200 block but it appeared someone tried to remove the door knob from the home, causing about $100 in damage. The attempted break-in occurred between 8:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.

About $400 in jewelry was reported stolen during an Aug. 22 burglary on Pearson Street.

According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, someone forced open a side door to gain entry to a home in the 200 block. Two watches and miscellaneous costume jewelry were taken from the home. Door damage is estimated at $200.

A Ruppe Drive car wash sustained $800 in damage when someone tried to break into an electronic device for change.

According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, the damage was done at Oasis Car Wash between 8 p.m. Aug. 22 and 11 a.m. Aug. 23.

A car parked in the Westwood Apartments complex on West Buford Street was targeted by a radio thief.

Gaffney Police Department said someone stole a Pioneer CD player, a Crunch-brand amplifier and two 12-inch Bostwick speakers from a 1993 Honda on Aug. 20. The items are valued at about $400.

A Wilkinsville Highway home was broken into recently but it didn't appear that anything was taken.

According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, someone broke into the home in the 4200 block between Aug. 1 and Aug. 21 by forcing open a back door. Door damage is estimated at $300.

A North Limestone Street business sustained an estimated $500 in damage recently when someone stole parts from a chain link fence.

According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, someone cut the chain link fence at Stephenson Homes between Aug. 16 and Aug 21 and took about five sets of aluminum rails.

An Osage Drive home was targeted by a burglar recently.

According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, someone forced entry to the home in the 200 block between Aug. 14 and Aug. 21. A 32-inch television and a black and silver TV stand were taken from the home. The thief or thieves also opened drawers and scattered clothing and other items. Police noted damage to the frames of both the front and rear doors of the home. Theft losses are estimated at $600 while damage is estimated at $300.

A Kings Mountain woman was arrested for a third or subsequent offense of shoplifting after she allegedly tried to leave the Wal-Mart on West Floyd Baker Boulevard with more than $200 worth of items.

According to the Gaffney Police Department, a Wal- Mart employee allegedly saw Rebecca Sue Reese, 35, of Wave Road, King's Mountain, put multiple items in a shopping cart, including cat food, DVDs, purses and hair color and exit the store without paying on Aug. 21. Reese was stopped by a store employee and brought back into the store office. Police said they discovered two previous convictions on Reese's record, making the Aug. 21 incident a third offense.
