Kenneth J. Walker

BLACKSBURG -- Kenneth Jerome Walker, 46, of 101 S. York St., passed away Friday, Aug. 22, 2008, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.

A native of Blacksburg, Mr. Walker was the son of the late F.W. Walker and Van Helms Walker of Blacksburg. He worked in construction as a roofer.

In addition to his mother, Mr. Walker is survived by three sons, Nathan Walker of Blacksburg, Derike Walker of Gaffney and C.J. Edge of Utah; two daughters, Shaunna Martin and Lacey Edge, both of Blacksburg; two brothers, Pete Walker and Wesley Martin, both of Blacksburg; four sisters, Leylonne Martin, Mona Blankenship, and Chessy Robbins, all of Blacksburg, and Lisa Martin

of Gaffney; and 6 grandchildren.

In addition to his father, Mr. Walker was preceded in death by his grandmother, Estelle Helms, and a nephew, Joshua Husketh.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Aug. 26, at 3 p.m. at Broad River Baptist Church with the Rev. Eric Nixon officiating.

The family will receive friends Monday, Aug. 25, from 5-8 p.m. at the home of Van Walker, 107 S. Chester St., Blacksburg.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Kenneth Walker Burial Fund, c/o Gordon Mortuary, P.O. Box 428, Blacksburg, S.C. 29702.

The family will be at Van Walker's residence, 107 S. Chester St., Blacksburg.
