      It is still good to give to others, just ask the local Meals on Wheels (MOW). More than 400 hot meals daily go out to elderly and disabled Cherokee County residents. Churches, businesses and groups in the area have given of themselves to assist MOW.

Dewitt F. Ford is recipient of 2008 Mary Gaffney Knuckles scholarship
      Dewitt Floyd Ford is recipient of a $500 scholarship from the Mary Gaffney Knuckles Education Scholarship Foundation. Ford will be attending Clemson University and majoring in education. According to his teachers, he is an outstanding student who has a passion for learning. He graduated with a GPA of 3.56.

      Mr. and Mrs. William E.G. Logan of Gaffney are celebrating their 37th anniversary today, Aug. 29, 2008. Mr. and Mrs. Logan were married in 1971 in Gaffney. Their children are Tayna Logan, Shea Logan, Braxten Logan, all of Gaffney, and R'al Valentine of Chesnee. They have five grandchildren.

      Meetings The annual Associational Fall WMU Leadership Conference will be held Saturday, Sept. 6, at Calvary Baptist Church, 292 Cherokee Ave. The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. with a short business session. Local charities get funds from Altrusa
      Altrusa International of Gaffney presented checks to three local charities at its July meeting. Recipients were Dewitt Clyde, Cherokee County Literacy Association; Ruby Gantenbein, Cherokee Crisis Help Line; and Donnie Padgett, Gaffney Soup Kitchen. Each year, members of Altrusa choose local charities to receive funds that are raised from various events throughout the year.
