Local charities get funds from Altrusa

Altrusa International of Gaffney presented checks to three local charities at its July meeting. Recipients were Dewitt Clyde, Cherokee County Literacy Association; Ruby Gantenbein, Cherokee Crisis Help Line; and Donnie Padgett, Gaffney Soup Kitchen. Each year, members of Altrusa choose local charities to receive funds that are raised from various events throughout the year. Altrusa is a worldwide service organization that provides members opportunities to share leadership skills and to benefit the community and each other. In the photos, Nancy Littlejohn, Altrusa secretary, presents the checks to Dewitt Clyde, Ruby Gantenbein and Don Padgett (l-r).
