George J. Moss

Retired from Milliken and Company - Lockhart Plant

PACOLET - George J. Moss, 87, of 3171 Jerusalem Road, widower of Molly Scates Moss, died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2008, at Brookview HealthCare in Gaffney.

Mr. Moss was born in Cherokee County on Nov. 18, 1922, a son of the late John Landrum Moss and Hassie Patterson Moss. He retired from Milliken and Company - Lockhart Plant and was of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Moss was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Surviving are four daughters, Joyce Mills, Doris Dover, both of Gaffney, Virginia Moss of Blacksburg and Cheryl Moss of Pacolet; two sons, James E. Moss of the home and Lewis Moss of Union; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous step-grandchildren and step-greatgrandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Moss was preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret Moss, and two brothers, Clyde Ogle and Edward Moss.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, Aug. 30, at 3 p.m. at Rehoboth Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Ricky Cook.

Mr. Moss' grandsons will be the honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Friday, Aug. 29, from 7-9 p.m. at Holcombe's Jonesville Chapel.

Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.

The family is at the residence, 3171 Jerusalem Road, Pacolet.
