Gaffney offense sputters in 6-0 overtime loss to Dorman

      Gaffney produced a number of firsts in Friday's regular-season christening of the New Reservation. Jeremiah Cochran ran for three yards on the first play from scrimmage. Wide receiver Joe Craig caught the first pass. Quarterback Bo Davidson recorded the initial first down.

Defense shines despite 9 new starters

      In its first regular season game, the Gaffney defense looked in midseason form. With nine new starters, the defense held the high-powered Dorman offense scoreless in regulation before giving up a touchdown in overtime. Gaffney defensive coordinator Dan Jones had no complaints about his unit's performance.

      GHS jayvees lose to Dorman In junior varsity football action on Thursday, DeEdward Burris scored Gaffney's lone touchdown in a 19-6 loss at Dorman. In ninth-grade action, Joey Copeland threw two touchdown passes to Quinshad Davis in the Indians' 19-14 loss to Dorman.

      Blacksburg football fans could be excused if they had a case of deja vu watching Friday's 26-6 loss to South Stanly. The game unfolded much like last week's season opening loss to Walhalla. South Stanly star Terry Shankle caught touchdown passes of 31- and 50-yards from quarterback Detric Allen to help the Red Bulls take a 20-0 halftime lead.
