Steddy Parris

Retired plumbing contractor

MONROE, N.C. - Steddy Parris, 69, died Friday, Aug. 29, 2008. He was born on Dec. 21, 1938, in Gaffney, S.C., son of the late Durbin and Mary Hughes Parris.

Mr. Parris served as First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army.

He was a Clemson

graduate and a 44- year resident of Union County. He was a loving husband, father and an awesome "Gaga" (granddad), and a member of First Baptist Church of Monroe where he served as a deacon. He was a retired plumbing contractor.

Services will be held Monday, Sept. 1, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Monroe. The family will visit with friends following the service in the multi-purpose room.Burial will be on Tuesday, Sept. 2, at 11 a.m. in Frederick Memorial Gardens on Chesnee Highway in Gaffney.

Steddy is survived by his wife, Martha M. Parris of Monroe; sons, Dan Parris and wife, Margie Lee, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Brent Parris of Los Angeles, Calif; a brother, Elbert Parris and wife, Leanne, of Newton; and grandchildren Luke, Spencer and Emma Parris.

Steddy was loved by all children everywhere. He never missed a hug, kiss, or an ear twist on all the children at First Baptist Church, Monroe. He offered such a happy outlook on life; always smiling and always hugging. He will forever be missed.
