Edna Harris Cash

Edna Harris Cash, 92, formerly of the Macedonia community, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008, at Peachtree Centre.

Born in Cherokee County, she was married to J. Grady Cash Sr. for 31 years until his death on Feb. 16, 1977. Together they owned and operated Cash Farm Supply in Chesnee. She was the daughter of the late Edward Watkins Harris and Beulah Blanton Harris. Mrs. Cash was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.

She is survived by a son, J. Grady Cash Jr. and wife, Kathy, of Nashville, Tenn.; a daughter, Joanne Thomas and husband, Dr. Clyde Thomas, of Gaffney; two grandsons, Preston Thomas and Grady Thomas of Gaffney; and two sisters, Betty Harris of Gaffney and Amarylis Jones of Virginia Beach.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Cash was preceded in death by a sister, Isabel Whelchel, and two brothers, Edward Harris and Maynard Harris.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, Sept. 6, from 12:30-2 p.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church. Services will immediately follow at 2 p.m. with Dr. Clyde Thomas and Dr. Terry Duvall officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Macedonia Baptist Church, 216 Macedonia Road, Gaffney, S.C. 29341; or to Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church, 805 Cherokee Ave., Gaffney, S.C. 29340.

The family will be at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Clyde Thomas, 591 Grassy Pond Road.
