      Gaffney's Stan Easterling took defensive coordinator Dan Jones' words to heart. In a pre-game speech, Jones urged his players to make a difference by either sacking the quarterback, intercepting a pass, recovering a fumble or blocking a punt.

Indian Land holds off 'Cats, 24-14

      Indian Land defensive back Ted Boston returned an interception 53 yards for a touchdown late in the fourth quarter Thursday to help Indian Land hold on for a 24-14 victory over Blacksburg. Boston ran in the 2-point conversion with 1:19 left in the game. Defensive back Luke Lambert intercepted Blacksburg quarterback Darrell Walton on the next drive to seal the victory.

Dolphins cap another successful season
STAFF REPORTS
      The Cherokee County YMCA swim team wrapped up another successful campaign with their 2008 summer awards ceremony. The Dolphins, led by head coach Kevin Covington and assistant coach,Brittany Martin, finished 10th at the 2008 summer State Meet. Three CCFY Dolphin swimmers were able to capture state titles in individual events at the event.
