Gospel singing

Church news

Youngs Grove Baptist Church, 222 Young Grove Road, Blacksburg, will have a 122nd anniversary celebration Sunday, Sept. 7, at 3 p.m. Special guests will be the Rev. Kenneth Martin Sr., pastor of Golden Ridge Baptist Church, Shelby, and his choirs and congregation.

Bethany Baptist Church, 215 Wilkinsville Hwy., will celebrate Grandparents Day on Sunday, Sept. 7, at 11 a.m. There will be a grandparents choir led by one of the church's grandmothers. Grandmothers will also welcome members and visitors, make announcements, have prayer for the sick, read scripture, have the children's sermon and take up the offering. There will also be special music by the ladies' ensemble and the men's ensemble. Grandfathers will have the offertory prayer and speak on "Grandparents' Influence on their Grandchildren." Metropolitan A.M.E. Zion Church will have its annual revival beginning Sunday, Sept. 7, at 3 p.m. and continuing Sept. 8 through Sept. 10 at 7 p.m. Speaker will be the Rev.Tony White, pastor of Chestnut Ridge A.M.E. Zion Church, Charlotte.

A "Holy Ghost" recovery group will meet every Saturday at 7 p.m. in the fellowship hall at Cherokee Gospel Tabernacle on 4th Street (across from Rounders). If you are an addict bound by drugs and alcohol and are sick and tired of being sick and tired and are searching for a way out, you are invited to attend the meetings and learn the truth biblically how addicts can recover. The Brother to Brother Ministry of Bethel Baptist Church will sponsor a car wash and fish and hot dog plate sale Saturday, Sept. 6, beginning at 10 a.m. and continuing until at the church. Plates are $5 each; fish sandwiches, $3; and hot dogs, $1. Cars will be washed for $10.

Meetings

Tuesday Woman's Club will meet on Sept. 9 at 4 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Bill Childers. Co-hostesses are Mrs. Matt Childers and Mrs. Richard Lancaster.

The Cherokee County Branch of the NAACP will meet Monday, Sept. 8, at Westside Full Gospel Church at 7 p.m.

The Gaffney Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) will have a membership supper meeting Monday, Sept. 8, at 6:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 1600 W. Floyd Baker Blvd.

Benefit

A benefit singing for Stacy Million, who was hurt at Cherokee Speedway in July, will be held Saturday, Sept. 6, from 5-6 p.m. at White Plains Baptist Church, 206 Soap Stone Road. After the singing a Poor Man's supper will be served with donations accepted.
