Gaffney mayor gives good report on city at Chamber retreat What's going on in Gaffney? An upbeat Gaffney Mayor Henry Jolly spent 20 minutes today briefing the gathering at the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce annual retreat on the city's many and varied projects and plans. Jolly bragged about the successful IrishFest celebration and debut of a downtown farmer's market. Jolly also updated retreat goers on the city's Wayfinding Sign Project, which will direct visitors to significant downtown landmarks. Jolly said the city is awaiting an encroachment permit from the South Carolina Highway Department before beginning the project. Progress is being made on the highly-anticipated renovation of the old post office building into a visitors center and art gallery as well as upgrades to the city park system, Jolly said. "There is just a lot of positive things going on in the city," Jolly said. In addition to Jolly's remarks, the retreat, held in Charleston, concluded Friday with presentations from representatives of Duke Energy, Nestle, Cherokee County Community Foundation and the American Red Cross. |
