Chiefs, Warriors roll in openers

Shaquille Davidson scored twice and O'brian Davidson caught a touchdown pass and returned an interception for a score to help the Gaffney Middle School Chiefs to an impressive 44-6 victory over Whitlock on Wednesday.

Quan Weeks and Joe Goode each had a rushing touchdown for the Chiefs, who improve to 1-0.

Quarterback Bryce Spurlin threw for a touchdown and added three 2- point conversions.

"The entire defense and offensive line played well," Gaffney coach Brad Phillips said.

The Chiefs travel to McCracken next week.

Granard 44, Carver 16

Jaylen Miller scored on a 59-yard run and Joey Gaines scored twice to lift Granard Middle School to a 44-16 win over Carver on Wednesday.

The Warriors' defense also got into the scoring act when Cobby McDowell returned a fumble for a touchdown.

McCracken 36, Ewing 14

Ewing Middle School wasn't as fortunate as its two local counterparts. The Eagles were beaten by McCracken, 36-14, on Wednesday.

Tomaine Logan and Dominique Wilkins scored the Eagles' touchdowns.
