Jones - Smith vows exchanged July 26 in Tryon

MRS. THOMAS MARK SMITH (LAURA SUSIE MARIE JONES) MRS. THOMAS MARK SMITH (LAURA SUSIE MARIE JONES) Laura Susie Marie Jones of Blacksburg and Thomas Mark Smith of Mill Spring, N.C., were united in marriage on Saturday, July 26, 2008, at First Baptist Church of Tryon, N.C. Dr. William Henderson conducted the 2 p.m. double ring ceremony. A reception followed at the church.

Music was provided on the harp by Lynn Sisk who played various nuptial selections.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Woodrow Jones I of Blacksburg. Her grandparents are the late Maynard and Sue Wood and the late Joe and Marie Jones. She received a B.A. degree in Elementary Education from Limestone College and M.L.I.S. from the University of South Carolina. She is children's librarian at the Henderson County Library in Hendersonville, N.C.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Benny Smith of Tryon and grandson of Arvilla Smith of Tryon, the late Guynell Smith and the late James and Brooks Carruth. He received an Associate degree in Industrial Technology from Spartanburg Technical College and graduated from Franklin University with a B.S. degree in Applied Management. He is a Ford Asset Instructor at Spartanburg Community College.

Mr. and Mrs. Smith are making their home in Mill Spring after a wedding trip to Virginia.

Escorted and given in marriage by her father, the bride was attended by her sister, Lana J. Hames, of Blacksburg as matron of honor.

The bride's niece and nephew, Leeanne Hames and A.J. Hames, both of Blacksburg, were flower girl and ring bearer, respectively.

The groom had his father as best man. Groomsmen were Larry Woodrow Jones II, brother of the bride, of Blacksburg and Greg Scruggs, friend of the groom, of Tryon. Chuck Jones, uncle of the bride, of Blacksburg ushered.
