Cherokee County Farm Bureau holds annual meeting Sept. 9

The Cherokee County Farm Bureau had its annual meeting of the membership on Tuesday, Sept. 9, at the Cherokee Shrine Club.

There were approximately 140 members present to elect the Board of Directors for 2009. Those elected were Loye Mayfield Jr., David Stacy, Mickey Caggiano, Joey Lemmons, Fred Lovingood, Kline Cash, John Mayfield, George Wheeler, Tommy Robbs, Terry Sanders, J.C. Humphries Jr. and Tommy Lemaster.

Cherokee County Farm Bureau is one of 47 member counties of the S.C. Farm Bureau Federation, an organization representing more than 130,500-member families statewide.

Guest speaker for the evening was David Branham, Director of Commodity Relations for the S.C. Farm Bureau Federation.

Members present enjoyed a complimentary barbecue supper catered by Mutt's Bar-BQue of Spartanburg and desserts were provided by Cash Farms of Cowpens.

After the meeting, door prizes were distributed by Cherokee County Farm Bureau secretary, Bonnie Scruggs, and agents, Peter Benson and Johnny Wyatt.
