WHAT'S UP

Community events

Pacolet Road Baptist Church will have its ninth annual community party on Saturday, Sept. 20, from noon until 6 p.m. There will be many things going on with games for kids from 1-3 p.m. Several groups will be on hand to sing including The Lambert Family, Family Harmony, Hands of Praise of Calvary Baptist Church, New River, and Hopewell Baptist Choir. There will be lots of food such as barbecue and hash, hot dogs, slaw, chips, etc. Food will be served from noon until 4 p.m. Everyone is welcome to come enjoy a day of fun and fellowship.

Ladies Auxiliary 10431 will have a fish sale and voter's registration at the VFW Post on Saturday, Sept. 20, beginning at 10 a.m. and continuing until.

Church news

A special service will be held at New Harvest Ministries, 215 Pecan St., Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. Evangelist/ missionary Mike Brown of Corbin, Ky., will be ministering. Everyone welcome.

The Shady Grove Baptist Church Music Ministry will have a hymn choir music festival and fellowship service on Sunday, Sept. 21, at 4 p.m. There will be a variety of music and groups on the program. Scheduled to appear are the Mt. Zion Hymn Choir of Hickory Grove, Do-Re-Mi Note Choir of Fosters Chapel Church and The Harrison Grove Do-Re-Mi Note Choir, both of Roebuck, St. Peter Hymn Choir of Grover, The United Gospel Pearls, WSPA television celebrity Brother Joe Brown and The Melonaires of Gaffney, The Shady Grove Hymn Choir, The Shady Grove Gospel Choir and The Shady Grove Praise Singers. The emcee will be the Rev. W.T. Lewis of Spartanburg.

Meetings

Ladies Auxiliary 10431 will have a regular meeting Saturday, Sept. 20, at 4 p.m. Hattie Smith, president, asks all members to be present.

Senior Center events

The Gaffney Senior Center will have an Alzheimer's Memory Walk on Friday, Oct. 3, at 9:30 a.m. at the Senior Center's walking track. Donations will be taken to help support those who have this disease. Anyone who would like to walk may call Joan Hall at the Gaffney Senior Center, 487-2725.

You can get free answers from lawyers concerning magistrate's court at the Gaffney Senior Center, 499 W. Rutledge Ave., Monday, Sept. 22, at 10:15 a.m. The free legal clinic will consist of a 30- to 45-minute lecture followed by an open question and answer session. Fund raisers

Kenneth Shuler School of Cosmetology in Spartanburg will be donating $1 for every haircut that they do and will also be accepting donations and selling Breast Cancer Awareness pins, bracelets, etc. to raise additional money. The fund raiser is theme "Cut for the Cure." Hours are 10:30 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8:30 a.m.-4:45 p.m. Saturday. For more information, call 864-587-6000.

Special events

Waterfall Crafters will have their 20th annual craft show on Friday, Sept. 19, and Saturday, Sept. 20, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at St. Timothy Methodist Church, corner of Asheville Highway and Hospital Drive in Brevard, N.C. Several new juried artisans will join the regular crafters with a wide variety of crafts for all ages. Lunch, snacks and beverages will be available and Daisy the Clown will be on hand to entertain.
