$450,000 paving project completed

By LARRY HILLIARD Ledger Staff Writer larry@gaffneyledger.com

The state Department of Transportation has finished the Limestone Street resurfacing project months ahead of schedule.

Workers began to resurface a stretch of Limestone Street from O'Neal Street to Meadow

Street on July 28., The project was substantially completed Monday.

Only a few spots remain to be "touched-up" as part of the $450,000 project, DOT resident engineer Shane Parris said.

Boggs Paving out of Monroe, N.C. had until Nov. 30 to complete the project.

The project called for the contractor to mill the roadway and replace the top two inches of asphalt, Parris said.

The project was done as part of the normal maintenance cycle, according to Parris.

The project complicated transportation in the area, forcing DOT officials to close one of the roadway's two lanes for a time each day.
