Blacksburg Town Council OKs water plan

By JOE L. HUGHES II Ledger Staff Writer joe@gaffneyledger.com

Blacksburg town officials unanimously approved a plan last week to provide water to seven homes in the Rock Springs community.

The seven homes located in a mobile home park on Bridges Road previously received water by way of the Cleveland County (N.C.) Sanitary Water District.

However, representatives with the water provider of 52,000 customers in five counties in North Carolina contacted Blacksburg town officials recently regarding the possibility of the municipality taking on the homes formerly under their jurisdiction.

"We definitely received an offer to take on the homes located on Bridges Road," said Blacksburg Town Administrator Trudy Martin.

The depreciated value to provide water to the seven homes located on Bridges Road is an estimated $9,529, a "bargain" according to Martin.
