Robert Michael Sliney
BLACKSBURG - Robert Michael Sliney, 18, of 304 M+A Farm Road, passed away Sunday, Sept. 14, 2008, at 141 Freeman Road.
Born in Gaffney, Mr. Sliney was the son of Elizabeth Runyans Sliney of the home and Duke Michael Sliney of Waco, N.C. Mr. Sliney worked in construction and attended Hopewell Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a girlfriend, Kim Wright of Blacksburg; a daughter, Lily Nevaeh Sliney of Blacksburg; two sisters, Crystal Nicole Sliney of Blacksburg and Christina Ann Sliney of Kings Mountain; his maternal grandmother, Alice Branigan of Gastonia; his maternal great-grandfather, Marlow Wilson of Gaffney; three uncles, Clarence Willie Runyans Jr. of Blacksburg, Billy Runyans of Clover and Barry Runyans of Blacksburg; a niece, Haley Danielle Wentz of Blacksburg; two nephews, Aaron Michael Verrier of Gaffney and William Allen Moore of Kings Mountain; and his godparents, Deidra and Chuck Clayton of Blacksburg.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 17, at 2 p.m. at McKown's Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Gregg Martin officiating.
Pallbearers will be Chucky Clayton, Lucas Chandler, Chris Davis, Jeremy Evans, Eddie Malcolm and Justin Ayers.
Visitation was held Tuesday, Sept. 16, from 6-7:30 p.m. at Gordon Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Robert Sliney Burial Fund, c/o Gordon Mortuary, PO Box 428, Blacksburg, S.C. 29702.
