Photo by LARRY HILLIARD Gaffney quarterback Bo Davidson completed all eight of his passes against Union on Friday as the offense exploded for 49 points in the win. The Gaffney Indians rolled a seven Friday - seven touchdowns, that is.

After struggling to score points and sustain drives in their first two games, the Indians' new no-huddle offense exploded in a 49-13 rout at Union County Stadium Friday.

"I think we are headed in the right direction," Gaffney coach Phil Strickland said. "We thought we were settled in at the first of the season, but we weren't game ready. But they are coming around."

Both on the ground and through the air.

The Indians rushed for 318 yards against the Yellow Jackets. Quarterback Bo Davidson led the way with 83 yards on six carries, including a 57-yard TD run. Jeremiah Cochran gained 76 yards and Kenard Lipscomb had 71 yards on only nine carries.

Joe Craig rushed for 65 yards on eight carries.

Davidson was solid through the air, as well, completing all eight of his passes to four different receivers.

"He's spreading it out," Strickland said. "Coach (Perry) Woolbright has taught him to read the defensive backs, so he's not locked in to one person. He's throwing the ball to who he is supposed to."

Strickland said Davidson is a feeling more comfortable.

"He's learning and that comes with age and maturity. He's playing well."

Backup quarterback DeEdward Burris is expected to miss at least one more game, so Davidson will get the majority of the snaps in the game.

Strickland also had high praise for the offensive line, which graded out above 70 percent as a group.

Center Tommy Strickland and Denzelle Good each graded out over 80 percent.
