Miss Wolff, Mr. Owensby wed June 21 in Cowpens
      Kayla Nicole Wolff of Cowpens and J.W. Owensby of Gaffney were married Saturday, June 21, 2008, at Oakdale Baptist Church in Cowpens. The Rev. Dennis Spencer conducted the 2 p.m. double ring ceremony that was followed by a reception given by the bride's mother.

      Dear Annie: I am a 28-year-old single female. I just got a promotion and moved closer to my job. I am doing great and even got a raise. I am pretty happy with my life, but I still have this empty feeling. I have been with my employer for eight years, but sometimes wonder how the Air National Guard could open my opportunities.

Antique and collectible car show Saturday
      The annual fall classic car show to benefit the Cherokee County History and Arts Museum will be Saturday, Sept. 20, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on the historic mustering grounds of the S.C. Militia at the museum at 301 College Drive. This year's event promises to be one of the best, as over 100 trophies will be awarded.

     LEARNING ABOUT HISTORY CAN BE FUN - The smiling faces above are evidence that children from the Cherokee County Boys and Girls Club in Gaffney enjoyed learning about colonial life on a recent trip to the Cherokee County History and Arts Museum. The replica of Fort Thicketty was one of the children's favorite areas in the Revolutionary War display. "With hands-on activities, we hope to create a memorable experience for each child who visits the museum," said Billy Pennington Jr., museum director. To make an appointment for groups or classroom visits to the museum, call 864-489-3988. The Cherokee County History and Arts Museum is located at 301 College Drive and visiting hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and 2-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

      Bernice Wilkie McGill and Homer Henry McGill of 510 Estelle Road renewed their wedding vows on Saturday, June 7, 2008, at Concord Baptist Church. The Revs. Michael Bridges and Dennis Rector officiated the 3 p.m. double ring ceremony.
