Miss Wolff, Mr. Owensby wed June 21 in Cowpens
MR. AND MRS. J.W. OWENSBY Kayla Nicole Wolff of Cowpens and J.W. Owensby of Gaffney were married Saturday, June 21, 2008, at Oakdale Baptist Church in Cowpens. The Rev. Dennis Spencer conducted the 2 p.m. double ring ceremony that was followed by a reception given by the bride's mother.
Mrs. Owensby is the daughter of Detra Wolff of Cowpens and the late Stanley Wolff. Her grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Goforth of Cowpens, Tommy Wolff and Mr. and Mrs. Horace Painter, all of Gaffney. Her great-grandmothers are Lucille Goforth and Nellie Turner of Cowpens. The bride graduated from Gaffney High School and attends Spartanburg Community College. She is employed by Corinth Christian Edu-Care.
Mr. Owensby is the son of Slick and Velina Owensby of Gaffney and grandson of Mr. and Mrs. James Wyatt of Gaffney and the late Ray Owensby. He graduated from Gaffney High School and entered the United States Marine Corps in June. He expects to graduate on Sept. 26 from basic training at Parris Island.
The couple took a wedding trip to the coast.
Wedding music was provided by Mona Evans, pianist. Carrie Goforth sang "Love of My Life."
A single candle was lit in memory of the bride's father, Thomas Stanley Wolff.
Given in marriage by her brother, Duran Wolff, the bride was attended by her sister, Holly Wolff, as maid of honor. Bridesmaid were Lauren Blanton, cousin of the groom; Jessica Buccherri, sister of the groom; Emily Harris, Chrissie Gragg and Kacie Gallman, friends of the bride.
The bride's bouquets, the attendants' bouquets and the boutonnieres of the groom's attendants were handmade by the bride's grandmother, Delera Goforth.
Mollie Goforth, cousin of the bride, was flower girl and J.T. Goforth, also cousin of the bride, was the ring bearer.
Matthew Robertson attended his brother as best man. Groomsmen were Will Blanton, cousin of the groom; Jonathan Johnson, Chris Perry, Tim Phillip and Jared Teague, friends of the groom.
The wedding was directed by Karen Hamrick.
