Letter carrier honored for 45 years of service
Letter carrier Theral Moore, at left, was the subject of a suprise ceremony Thursday morning to mark his 45th year of service for the U.S. Postal Service. At center is Moore's wife, Linda, and at right is Gaffney Postmaster Garvin Daniels. Rain, sleet and snow may not stop the U.S. Postal service, but sometimes a short break is more than justified.
Work inside the Gaffney Post Office stopped for a few moments Thursday morning as Postmaster Garvin Daniels gathered all the workers together to mark a rare occasion. "We don't give out many 45-year pins," he would later say.
City Letter Carrier Theral E. Moore, 69, began working for the U.S. Postal Service on Sept. 11, 1963 and recently reached the milestone of 45 years of service.
"During my watch here I can only say good and exciting things about Theral Moore," Daniels said. "He has always given great service and that will always be at the top of the list."
Daniels lauded Moore for his kindness, his friendly smile and his ongoing concern for his customers.
In addition to the 45-year pin, Moore also was presented with a cake and a balloon bouquet to mark the occasion.
Daniels had kept the recognition ceremony secret from Moore and invited Moore's wife, Linda, to join in the special moment.
