Odessa B. Porter
SPARTANBURG - Odessa Parker Bright Porter, 80, of 303 Cedar Springs Road, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2008. She was the wife of Carroll Porter and was first married to the late Ralph V. Bright.
Mrs. Porter was the daughter of the late George Martin and Annie Jane Ross Parker. She was retired from textiles and was a homemaker. Mrs. Porter was a member of Cedar Spring Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Porter is survived by her daughter, Debbie Bright Terry; three sons, Ralph Bright Jr., Wendell Bright and Steve Bright; three brothers, Robert Parker, Cecil J. Parker and Grady Parker; and a sister, Lib Jolley. She also had 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 18 nieces and nephews; a stepson, Ray Porter; two step-grandchildren; and four step-greatgrandchildren.
In addition to her first husband, Mrs. Porter was preceded in death by two brothers, James Parker and Walter Parker, and a sister, Margaret Lawhorn.
Visitation will be held Saturday, Sept. 20, from 1-2:30 p.m.. in the sanctuary of Cedar Spring Baptist Church. Services will follow at 2:30 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Dr. James L. Jackson and the Rev. Todd Lowe. Burial will be in Cedar Spring Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spartanburg Mobile Meals, P.O. Box 461, Spartanburg, S.C. 29304.
