Six charged in armed robberies, police looking for seventh
Brandon Miller The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office and Gaffney Police Department announced charges Friday against six Gaffney men following a rash of wafflerestaurant robberies that occurred in Cherokee County last week.
According to a prepared statement sent from the sheriff's office, those charged in connection with the armed robberies of the Mr. Waffle on Hampshire Drive and/or the Waffle House on Hyatt Street include: Timothy OBrian Littlejohn, 28, of Beech Street, charged with armed robbery at Mr. Waffle and the Waffle House; Brandon Miller, 19, of Hill Street, charged with armed robbery at Mr. Waffle and the Waffle House; Jamarcus Gregory, 18, of 4th Street, charged with armed robbery at Mr. Waffle and the Waffle House; Sherrick LaBrandon Tate, 20, of Vestas Road, charged with armed robbery at the Waffle House; Joshua DeWayne Rankin, 25, of Dr. L.M. Rosemond Boulevard, charged with armed robbery at Mr. Waffle and the Waffle House and; Johnathan Phillips, 20, street address unknown, charged with armed robbery at Mr. Waffle.
Timothy Littlejohn According to a prepared statement, police still are on the lookout for a seventh individual, identified as Giles Lee Palmer, 19, address unknown.
Gaffney Police Department Detective Ron Ramsey filed charges on behalf of the city police force while sheriff's office Detective Richard Burgess filed charges on behalf of the county police force.
Attempts to reach police for additional information about the arrests were unsuc- cessful.
Major Dan Johnson of the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office confirmed Friday that his office also was looking into whether the Cherokee County robberies were related to a Waffle House robbery in Chesnee last week.
According to previously released incident reports, the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office had said a group of three robbers entered the Mr. Waffle on Hampshire Drive at about 11:08 p.m. on Sept. 15, produced handguns, and took money from the cash register.
The Waffle House on Hyatt Street was robbed at about 1:40 a.m. on Sept. 17, also by a group of three armed robbers.
Jamarcus Gregory The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office reported that investigations also continue into a third armed robbery that occurred in Cherokee County last week at the Carolina Line Grocery on Cliffside Highway. Two men entered the store at about 8:45 p.m. on Sept. 17 armed with handguns during that incident, according to a police report.
