4 charged in home invasion Sheriff Bill Blanton on Thursday afternoon announced the arrest of four young men in connection with a home invasion on Spring Lake Road that left a man with cuts and bruises from an assault. Two of the suspects arrested were neighbors of the 57-year-old victim, the sheriff said. According to an initial police report, it had been believed that three subjects broke into the home in the 100 block of Spring Lake Road at about 1 a.m. on Sept. 23 and assaulted the homeowner with their hands and firearms. The victim later went to a neighbor for assistance and was subsequently treated for injuries. Detective Daniel Ward, who was heading the investigation, filed charges on Thursday against four people including: Thomas Barron Jr., 17, of Wofford Road; Donnie Richard Jones, 21, of Killian Street, Blacksburg; Michael Angelo Dicosola, 19; and Christopher Patrick Giroux, 18, both of 213 Spring Lake Road. "Your house is your castle," Blanton said about the concerted effort of police in investigating the incident. All four have been charged with first degree burglary and are jailed pending bond hearings. Additional charges are possible. Blanton said the victim didn't know his assailants, who robbed him during the incident.
