Church news

True Gospel Independent Baptist Church will have a gospel singing Saturday, Sept. 27, at 7 p.m. Featured singers will be Dawn Hudson and others.

Heaven Bound Baptist Church, 140 Blanton Meadow Drive, will have a singing Saturday, Sept. 27, at 6:30 p.m. featuring Brother Larry Hill.

Junior Missionaries and Advisors of the Thickety Mountain Baptist Association will have final rehearsals for Baptist Week on Saturday, Sept. 27, at 12:30 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church.

White Plains Baptist, 206 Soap Stone Road, will celebrate homecoming Sunday, Sept. 28, at 10:30 a.m. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Benny Davis. Special music will be provided by the Faith Homes Choir.

Southside Baptist Church, 204 W. O'Neal St., will have homecoming weekend Sept. 27-28. There will be a barbecue dinner at 5:30 p.m. Saturday with a singing to follow. The dinner is free, but guests are asked to call 489-6504 or e-mail office@gaffneysouthside. com to make reservations Dr. Daniel Meetze, a former member of Southside, will be guest speaker Sunday at the 10:30 a.m. worship service. Dr. Meetze recently complete a medical mission trip to Africa.

Harris Baptist Church will have a gospel singing Sunday, Sept. 28, at 2 p.m. Featured will be Living By Faith and Goode's Creek Quartet, all of Forest City.

Cherokee Falls Baptist Church, 109 School St., Cherokee Falls, will have a singing Sunday, Sept. 28, at 6 p.m. featuring The Childers.

The first healing and deliverance worship service will be held Sunday at 6:30 p.m. at New Trinity Christian Fellowship Ministries, 711 Cherokee Ave. The meeting will take place every fourth Sunday each month.

Bethany Baptist Church will celebrate its 54th anniversary at homecoming services Sunday, Sept. 28. The Rev. James Blackwood, a former pastor, will deliver the morning message. Bring your favorite dishes and stay for lunch, fellowship and fun after the morning service.

Revival services will be held Sept. 28-Oct. 1 at Park Hills Baptist Church, 1100 Leadmine Road. Ron Barker, evangelism and prayer strategist from the South Carolina Baptist Convention, will bring the messages. Barker is a speaker who grabs one's attention with humor yet challenges with conviction. A nursery will be provided at each service. Special music will be presented Sept. 28 at 11 a.m. by the Park Hills Choir and at 6 p.m. by Mark Quick. Stacy Sprouse will sing Sept. 29 at 7 p.m.; Robin Dickson will sing Sept. 30 at 7 p.m.; and Ashby Blakely will sing Oct. 1 at 7 p.m.

Fund raiser

The Heart to Heart Ministry of Allen Temple CME Church is sponsoring a yard sale on Saturday, Sept. 27, at 7 a.m. A spaghetti dinner will begin at 11 a.m.; plates are $6. Plates of $25 or more will be delivered; call 487-7837.

Calvary Baptist Church, 2929 Cherokee Ave., will have a spaghetti dinner fund raiser on Saturday, Sept. 27, beginning at 5 p.m. Plates are $5 for adults and $3 for children. There will be door prizes and a bake sales. Money raised will help to support Calvary's AWANA club. For more information, call 490-6298.

Family reunions

The Gettys family will have a reunion Sunday, Oct. 5, at 1 p.m. at Duncan Creek Presbyterian Church, 1658 Duncans Creek Road, Ellenboro, N.C. Those attending are asked to bring covered dishes, more kinfolks and old photos. Call Marietta Floyd, 704-487-5480, for more information.

The Keller family reunion will be held Sunday, Oct. 5, at noon at Macedonia Baptist Church, Hwy. 39 (I-85 exit 87). Descendants of Elbert and Essie Keller are invited to attend and bring a well-filled basket of food. Paper supplies will be furnished.

The Mark Bird reunion will be held Sunday, Sept. 28, at Antioch Baptist Church in Blacksburg beginning at 12:30 p.m. Lunch will be served at 1 p.m. and business will be conducted at 2 p.m. Bring a wellfilled picnic basket.
