POLICE REPORTS

A vehicle was reported stolen from a Chesnee parking lot last week.

According to a report at the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, someone took a green 1994 Cadillac Seville from the Burns Trading Post parking lot. The vehicle was valued at $1,500.

A laptop computer and a checkbook were reported stolen from a West Robinson Street business following a recent break-in, according to the Gaffney Police Department. Sometime between Sept. 18 and Sept. 19, someone entered Gaffney Mini Storage's office and took the Toshiba laptop and checkbook. Police said detectives were called to the scene and they were able to lift fingerprints. The computer was valued at $1,200. A South Granard Street convenience store was burglarized Sept. 21.

According to the Gaffney Police Department, two unknown burglars broke into the Fresh Food Store at about 2:50 a.m. by breaking a glass door. Following the initial break-in, the thieves left and re-entered the store about one and a half hours later, as captured by a security camera. Police said they stole an undetermined amount of cash and about $50 in Newport cigarettes. Police said they recovered some of the clothing that the two burglars discarded in a nearby garbage bin, as well as gloves, a hammer and a screwdriver that was used to pry open a cash register. All of those items were placed into evidence.

A go-cart and scooter were reported stolen from a Bailey Bridge Road property recently. According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, someone forced entry to an outbuilding in the 200 block between Sept. 19 and Sept. 20 and took a 150 cc Fun Cart and a Baja scooter that looks like a mini Harley- Davidson motorcycle. The gocart was subsequently recovered on Battleground Road, police said, but the scooter still was missing.

Cherokee County Sheriff's Office reported the break-in of a Pacolet Highway garage. According to police, someone broke into Mitchell Duvall Racing in the 1200 block. Once inside, they knocked items off a desk, poured paint thinner on the floor, and also stole a small quantity of prescription medications. Nothing else was reported stolen.

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office reported damage to a White Plains Road home caused by gunfire. Someone fired shots from an unknown weapon at a home in the 600 block between Sept. 20 and Sept. 22, causing about $40 in damage to the vinyl siding and $50 in sheet rock damage. No one was injured.

A vehicle parked on Providence Road was struck by gunfire late Monday evening. Sometime between 10 p.m. and 10:45 p.m., a resident in the 100 block heard gunfire but saw no one outside. Later, when the resident's family members went outside to investigate, they found the windshield and side windows of a vehicle had been broken, apparently by gunshots. Damage was estimated at $1,000. The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office and the Gaffney Police Department responded to multiple reports of gunfire in various locations around the county during the same time span.

A trailer was reported stolen from White Plains Road on Sept. 22. The 8-foot by 10- foot trailer was taken from a property in the 400 block sometime between 9:30 a.m. Sept. 21 and 9:30 a.m. Sept. 22, according to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office. The trailer was black with a wooden floor. It was valued at $850.

A motorcycle, helmets and walkie-talkie radios were stolen from a Star Ridge Road property recently. Sometime between Sept. 21 and Sept 22, someone broke into two buildings owned by K Bar M and took a Honda XR 100 motorcycle, several helmets and eight radio units. Police said the thief or thieves also took pole climbing gear and broke into a black Chevrolet Blazer on the property, stealing a Pioneer CD player and subwoofer speakers. Theft losses were estimated at $2,025.

The Gaffney Police Department booted three people from the Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant after they allegedly tried to obtain the finger licking good food for a five-fingered discount. According to a police report, the three people, all from Grover, N.C., allegedly tried to take food from the restaurant's buffet. All three were placed on no trespassing notice, prohibiting their reentry into the store at any time in the future.

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office is investigating a report that the identity of a 40-year-old Bronx, N.Y., woman was used to obtain a driver's license locally. According to a police report, an unknown person used the New York woman's name, date of birth and Social Security number to obtain a driver's license at the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles office on Hyatt Street on a currently unknown date.

A generator valued at $600 was stolen from a Green River Road property this week. According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, someone took a Coleman Powermate 4,400-watt generator from a work truck belonging to Cobb Construction. The theft occurred in the 200 block of Green River Road between 4 p.m. Sept. 23 and 8:30 a.m. Sept. 24.

A $40,000 truck was reported stolen from a Shelby Highway business. According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, someone pulled down a gate at Randolph Industrial Supply on Shelby Highway between 5 p.m. Sept. 23 and 7 a.m. Sept. 24 and drove away with a 2001 Mack model CH613 truck.

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office recovered three shell casings from Lockhart Lane following a Sept. 22 incident during which shots were fired at a home.

According to a police report, a resident of the 400 block heard three shots come from a vehicle and later found three holes in the residence. Police said they found three 7.62 mm shell casings, which is a common form of ammunition used in assault rifles, near the scene. No injuries were reported.

A Deanna Lane, Blacksburg, man reported about $1,100 in vandalism damage to his vehicle, according to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office. Someone broke the rear window of the man's vehicle with a brick and also scratched the paint at about 11:40 p.m. Sept. 23. No charges were reported as of Thursday against a suspect listed in the report.
