Overhauler in textile industry

CHESNEE - Dewey Converse Gossett, 86, of 865 Keg Town Mill Road passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2008.

A native of Spartanburg County, he was the husband of Lallage Hawkins Gossett and son of the late Fred and Lula Cash Gossett. He worked in textiles as an overhauler, was a member of Hicks Grove Baptist Church, and served a term in the CC Camp.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Boyce and Bobby Gossett both of Chesnee; a daughter, Maybelle Gossett of Powders Springs, Ga.; three sisters, Avis Walker, Elsie Lawter, and Yvonne Spicer; a brother, JC Gossett; four grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Gossett was preceded in death by his first-born child, Joann Gossett, and two siblings, Mary Spake and Howard Lee Gossett.

The family will receive friends Friday, Sept. 26, from 1-2 p.m. at Eggers Funeral Home. Services will follow at 2:15 p.m. in Eggers Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Raymond Byrd and Todd Gossett officiating. Interment will be in Springhill Memorial Gardens.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.

The family will be at the residence.
