LEDGER READERS ON THE ROAD

Robert and Laura Parker read The Ledger while standing near the rim of Kilauea Volcano's main Halemaumau crater in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park on the Big Island of Hawaii. The 4,190-foot volcano has been sending toxic gases from fissures along its sides steadily for more than a quarter of a century. Several months after the photo was made the half-mile wide crater exploded for the first time since 1924, spewing gravel-size rocks across 75 acres. On your next trip out of town, take a copy of The Ledger along and send a picture of yourself or your group reading the newspaper to: cody@gaffneyledger.com.
