Hunting trip ends tragically

A 36-year-old Gaffney man died Saturday night while hunting in Cherokee County.

Shannon Lincoln Hamrick of 305 Hampton Blvd. was coon hunting with two friends when he was found unresponsive at 9:20 p.m.

Cherokee County Coroner Dennis Fowler said Hamrick was found in a wooded area about a half mile off Quarter Round Road.

Fowler pronounced Hamrick dead at the scene. The coroner ordered an autopsy to assist with determining the cause and manner of Hamrick's death.

Autopsy results indicated Hamrick died of natural causes, Fowler said.

Shannon Hamrick was the son of Barry and Judy Hamrick.
