      The Cherokee County Administration building has gone to the dogs. Cherokee County Interim Administrator Ben Clary said he will be spending time this week sorting through the applications for the new city/county consolidated animal shelter manager position. The deadline to apply was Friday, Sept. 26.

Christmas parade will be Dec. 13
      The City of Gaffney has set the date and time for the 2008 City of Gaffney/Veterans Christmas Parade at 10 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 13. As in years past, this will be a joint effort by the City of Gaffney and the Veterans.

WAGI-FM featured in SCETV documentary
      WAGI-FM is among several radio stations featured in a new documentary produced by South Carolina ETV. ETV will air the documentary "Losing Their Voices" on Thursday, Oct. 9, at 10 p.m. The show takes a look at how some radio stations in the state are dealing with major changes in the industry, such as the emergence of multistation owners and satellite radio.

Students escape from smoky classroom
      As smoke began pouring into their classroom Friday, students from the Village School calmly dropped to the ground and crawled close to the floor until they made their escape from a nearby window. Most of the students smiled from ear to ear afterwards.
