The Gaffney High volleyball team continues to show promise with a third-place showing Saturday at the Northwestern High School tournament.

Top-seeded Mauldin won the 10-team event. Ridge View was second.

The Lady Indians beat Clover, York, North Carolina's High Point High School as well as High Point High School in South Carolina en route to their third-place finish.

"We played a lot of good matches," Gaffney coach Vickie Parks said. "Our performance today was really good."

Gaffney's lone loss came to Mauldin.

"We were really fatigued when we played Mauldin," she said.

Gaffney's Holly Wolff was selected to the all-tournament team.

The Lady Indians entered the tournament on a 3-0 loss Thursday to Nation Ford.

The jayvee action between the teams was declared a draw, Parks said.
