Bobby Hughey

Retired from Bonitz

Robert (Bobby) Lewis Hughey, 65, formerly of Chestnut Ridge Road, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008, at Brookview Healthcare.

Born in Gaffney, he was the son of the late Wilburn Butler Hughey and Nellie Lewis Hughey. Mr. Hughey was retired from Bonitz and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are a daughter, Robin Hughey Painter and husband, Russell, of Gaffney; two brothers, Howard Hughey and Winford Hughey, both of Gaffney; four sisters, Shirley Lee of Spartanburg, Mildred Miller of Florida, Sylvia Browder of Gaffney and Martha Chalk, also of Gaffney; and a grandchild, Michelle Painter.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Hughey was preceded in death by a brother, Andrew Hughey.

Memorial services were held Sunday, Sept. 28, at 3 p.m. at Cherokee Gospel Tabernacle Church with the Revs. Rich Lancaster, Betty Gentry and Richard Sellars officiating. The family received friends at the church after the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kirby Memorial Baptist Church, Building Fund, 512 Chandler Drive, Gaffney, S.C. 29340.

The family will be at their respective homes.
