Juanita Harris
Juanita Leona Guthrie Willard Harris, 89, formerly of 417 Pecan St., went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Sept. 30, 2008.
Born in Gaffney, she was the widow of Sam Willard and Thomas Harris and daughter of the late Jack Guthrie and Daisy Northey Guthrie. She was retired from the textile industry and formerly worked at Peeler's Dairy and Willard's Hash & Barbeque. She was a member and choir member at Kirby Memorial Baptist Church for many years and thereafter became a member of Goucher Baptist Church.
She is survived by a son, Sammy Willard and wife, Jane; four daughters, Nancy W. Bishop of Landrum, Patsy W. Wix of Gaffney, Martha W. Jordan of Charleston and Myrtis Parris of Gaffney; two stepsons, J. D. Harris and wife, Joyce, of Gaffney and Thomas Harris Jr. and wife, Barbara, of Blacksburg; a step-daughter, Betty Ruth Simpson of California; a sister, Marie Ross of Blacksburg; and 11 grandchildren.
In addition to her husbands and parents, Mrs. Harris was preceded in death by two grandsons, Donnie Peeler and Joshua Abdenabi; two brothers Ralph Guthrie and Jack Guthrie; and three sisters, Vivian Turner, Othell Smalley and Mable Phillips.
The family will receive friends Friday, Oct. 3, from 1-2 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home. Services will follow at 2 p.m. in Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Rich Lancaster and Ron Jackson officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 901 S. Pine St., Spartanburg, S.C. 29302; or Hospice Care of South Carolina, 1612 N. Limestone St., Gaffney, S.C. 29340.
The family is at the residence of Patsy Wix, 116 Edgewood Drive, Gaffney.
