Natural gas rates down
      (AP) _ Natural gas customers in South Carolina's Upstate are getting a break. Piedmont Natural Gas Company's rates dropped 15 percent Wednesday for its 140,000 customers. Piedmont spokesman David Trusty in Charlotte, N.C., said demand for natural gas has slowed with the economy.

Oct. 4th deadline to register to vote
      (AP) _ Voters in South Carolina have several days yet to ensure they are registered to cast a ballot in the November election. Registration closes for the Nov. 4th election on Oct. 4th, this Saturday. A citizen who wishes to register to vote may do so in person at their county board of voter registration.
