BRIEFS Gaffney's Josh Gallman shot a second round 2-under 70 to finish at even-par at the Hartford Hawks Invitational and in a tie for ninth. It marked his 19th career top-10 finish, including 13 in NCAA Division I. USC Spartanburg finished 11th in the tournament. "Josh had a shaky day yesterday, but did not make any high numbers and still shot a 74," said Upstate head coach Todd Lawton. "Today, he goes out and shoots 16 pars and two birdies for a 70. It was a typical Josh performance and I sure am glad we have him on our team." In middle school action Wednesday, Granard remained undefeated by edging Gaffney, 30-28. "I feel that we played an outstanding game," Granard coach Roger Patterson said. "The kids responded well to everything that was thrown at them. The game was hard, fast and furious. The defense played a great game and the offense was able to score points. "We will definitely see Gaffney Middle again and we'll make some adjustments to go at it again. We are very pourd of our team and coaching staff. Our hearts and prayers go out to the Gaffney Middle quarterback who was injured."
