Newspapers aren't going the way of the hula hoop

      Yes, the news is bad these days. Gas is at $4 a gallon and the predictions are it will keep rising. The real estate market is in the tank. Retailing is reeling. So are car dealers. Investment bankers. Who isn't feeling it? Are newspapers going the way of the hula hoop?

      There's an old hymn we sing in church that goes "when the roll is called up yonder, I'll be there." That's the tune I'll be singing next session and I'll be passing song sheets around the Senate Republican Caucus so that my colleagues can sing with me.
