Lois Murph
Lois Modenna Linder Hammett Murph, 85, of 551 Old Metal Road, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
Born in Cherokee County, she was the widow of George Edgar Hammett and Robert Marshall Murph. "We'll soon be together again." Mrs. Murph was the daughter of the late Morgan Lee Linder Sr. and Carrie Lee Parris Linder.
She was retired from The Timken Company and a member of New Hope Outreach Ministries.
She is survived by two brothers, Morgan Lee Linder and Carl Edward Linder, both of Gaffney; three sisters, Nettie Blackwell of Travelers Rest, Elsie Guthrie of Gaffney and Carrie Mae Hamrick of Whitney.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a stepson, George Edgar Hammett, five brothers and four sisters.
Services will be held Thursday, Oct. 9, at 3 p.m. at New Hope Outreach Ministries, 4633 Cannons Campground Road, Spartanburg, with the Rev. Brent Powell officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Oct. 8, from 6-8 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home.
